Junior center Collin Metcalf announced his transfer to the University of Maryland in an Instagram post May 12.
During the 2024-25 season, Metcalf led the Huskies in blocks and was selected as part of the CAA all-defensive team.
In the post, Metcalf thanked head coach Bill Coen for “giving [him] an opportunity to play for an amazing staff and with amazing players.”
In a March 25 Instagram post announcing he would be leaving the team, Metcalf emphasized the bond he has with his teammates, referring to them as brothers and reminiscing on the hard work and time spent together.
“To my teammates you are more than just the people I shared the court with, you are my brothers,” he wrote. “The battles we fought together, the late-night workouts, the laughs, the wins, and even the tough losses have all been part of a journey I wouldn’t trade for anything. The bond we built is something I’ll cherish for life.”
In his freshman season, Metcalf recorded 18 blocks — the second-most blocks of the team. In his sophomore season, he was 15-for-20 shooting from the field.
His junior season was his most impressive yet. Metcalf had 78 blocks, more than quadrupling his freshman performance. He topped the CAA and was ninth in the NCAA for blocks. Metcalf secured a career-high of seven blocks against Stony Brook University, the most for any player in a single game in the CAA in the 2024-25 season.
Metcalf joins Rashad King, Harold Woods and Masai Troutman as Huskies on the basketball team who have transferred after the 2024-2025 season.
